Zinnia   Zinnia elegans
Butterfly Nectar Plant

Scroll down for plant information.

Orange Zinnia without tre flowers. This zinnia will not feed butterflies yet.

Although bright orange, this 'flower' cannot feed
butterflies until the center flowers open.
Gulf Fritillary (Agraulis vanillae) drinks nectar from zinnia flowers.

A Gulf Fritillary (Agraulis vanillae) drinks nectar
from the true flowers of a Zinnia bloom.
Tattered zinnia is still a good nectar source for this Gulf Fritillary (Agraulis vanillae) butterfly.

A tattered zinnia highlights the true 'flower' ...
the yellow flowers in the middle of the 'flower'.
