A paper wasp eats a Monarch Danaus plexippus butterfly chrysalis.
A paper wasp eats a Monarch (Danaus plexippus) chrysalis

The wasp started on the chrysalis as if it were cutting it open around the middle.
It started eating around it like a zipper opening sideways.
A paper wasp eats a Monarch (Danaus plexippus) pupa
At one point it pulled the Monarch's wing out.

After eating enough of the pupa to cause it to fall, the wasp went to the soil where the pupa lay and continued to eat it until nothing was left except a wet stain on the soil.
